My struggle is in paying another $1500 for LV1, even if I like it. I am kinda stoked about what is on the horizon five years from now.

One man's perfect solution is another man's cluster 'F' nightmare.ĭigital audio and gear has really come a long way, even in the last five years. There is no such thing as a perfect system In all fairness we should give Waves a bit of understanding given the massive options they offer as we "cobble up" one of their systems. My primary complaint with Waves is the fact that they do not adequately explain the precise role of the server and the critical importance of matching the right size server to your max work load. There is no such thing as a perfect system: all consoles, stage boxes, and multi-tracking protocols require the acquisition of ancillary gear to function well. The option to have two 24 inch touch screens instead of D-Live's single fixed 12 inch view along with the built in redundancy of back up options is a benefit to some of us.

When Aisle 6 characterizes and LV1 system as "cobbled up" perhaps he should come to grips with the reasons many of the worlds top pro golfers choose to play several brands in a "cobbled up" mixed bag of clubs.

Too this end if any of the D-live systems match your needs and budget: go for it! In the event their packaged offerings or price tag do not meet your needs the component approach may be a great alternative. I fully well understand Aisle 6 has a strong preference for integrated consoles such as the D-Live. If there were a iPad or iPhone app that would allow for all for IEM mixing, it would be easy decision. I just am not convinced it will be all that much better than using Cubase. So, I am kinda struggling with the idea of dropping another $1500 on LV1. So, the band is still relying on Cubase, even if I used LV1 for FOH. I still would have to run my DAW in order to use VST instruments for Keys, etc. I basically created a template in Cubase that pretends to mimic something kinda like the LV1. I have Multirack, and I tried it in the past with my X32. But, since I only have 20 input channels, I can probably whittle it down to just what I need to get by for now.

So, I probably need to add the extreme server if I go that route. However, I noticed in my demo that it cant handle the default eMO plugs that come standard on 64 channels. The IOS has the server built in (basically like the impact server).
